What is the biggest barrier to you expanding globally?

Canadian small-to-mid- sized company leaders say there are many reasons why they won't expand their businesses across borders. The top concerns raised include finding trustworthy suppliers/distributors, complex trade barriers, tax structures and the lack of familiarity with foreign contracting processes.

"This timely study highlights the importance of educating small and medium sized-business about the potential benefits of engaging the global economy. Firms that trade are more likely to report optimism about their prospects and understand the opportunities for growth and cost-cutting that comes with global engagement."
- Andrew B. Bernard, Director, Center for International Business, Tuck School of Business
